Photo Booth
Through the portrait series "Photobooth", François Cambe questions the normative aspect of the image in contemporary society. Mixing portraits taken by the artist himself and the archetypes of AI imagery, the artist explores the invisible standards that govern our perception of faces, bodies, and identities. This artistic work provides a space to reflect on how these norms are imposed and unconsciously printed in the collective imagination.

Restoring materiality to his images through the method of hand printing, playing with shapes, textures, framing and light, the artist questions the arbitrariness of these conventions and their structuring power over our relationship to the image, in an attempt to move the portrait beyond its usual function of conformity and homogenization.
